North Central College uses HiPath Xpressions Voicemail as our unified messaging system. Please expand the headings below for instructions on performing the desired task.
Bonus: A copy of any voicemail left at your personal extension will be sent to your North Central College email address as a .wav attachment.
Access Voicemail
You can access your voicemail from any phone by dialing:
1. x5995 from on campus or (630) 637-5995 from off campus.
2. Next, dial your voicemail extension followed by a pound sign. (voicemail extension is usually your 4 digit extension)
3. Next, dial your voicemail password followed by a pound sign.
4. Follow the prompts to change your password, record your name, and/or retrieve your messages.
Bonus: A copy of the message is also sent to your North Central email account as a .wav file, so you can listen to your voicemail from any computer with access to your email account.
Listen to a voicemail
- Login to your voicemail box (Your initial password is 111)

Record your name
Follow the steps below to record your standard greeting. This greeting will be used for all callers if an alternate greeting is not selected.
- Login to your voicemail box
- Dial 8 for answering options
- Dial 4 for "Record Name" option
- Dial 1 to record your first and last names and follow the prompts
Record a Greeting
Follow the steps below to record your alternate greeting. This greeting will be used for all callers when activated.
- Login to your voicemail box
- Press 8 for answering options
- Press 1 to record your personal greeting (Press 3 to activate your alternate greeting, if it is not active)
- Select 1 to record Greeting 1. (You can record up to 9 greetings that can be assigned to a greeting type)
Greeting Types:
- 1 = Standard greeting - will play for all calls if no other greeting is recorded
- 2 = Busy Line - will play if you are on the phone with another call
- 3 = Internal - only internal extension will hear this greeting
- 4 = External - only outside callers will hear this greeting

5 = After Hours - will only play outside of defined business hours
- Follow the prompts to finish recording your greetings
- Press * follow by # to stop recording
Change your voicemail password
- Login to your voicemail box by pressing the Mailbox key and then the "Checkmark" keys on your phone, or dial x5995
- Dial your extension followed by a # sign
- Dial your password followed by a # sign (Your initial password is 111)
- Dial 9 for mailbox options

Note: Your password must be at least 6 and no more than 23 digits long
