ITS UPDATE: Viruses can Hitchhike on your Flash Drive
|
Viruses can Hitchhike on your Flash Drive !
Newer computer viruses can pass from an infected computer to USB flash drives, including thumb drives, iPods, and digital cameras. The viruses then spread when the newly infected drive is plugged into a clean computer.
Follow these tips to protect yourself:
- Be Proactive --Make sure antivirus software is installed and updated regularly on each computer you use. Also check regularly for the latest iPod software updates.
- Be Aware--Public and unprotected computers are very susceptible to catching and passing viruses. Designate a thumb drive for work use and only use it on College computers to avoid catching a virus from outside computers.
- Be Cautious--If you suspect you thumb drive has a virus, Don't plug it in!
