ITS UPDATE: Password Security Alert; Printing ProgramEvaluations; Camps & Conferences Calendar

Password Security Alert
When Firefox and IE prompt you to remember passwords, do you say yes?  When you type a password into any web form, both Internet Explorer and Firefox prompt whether you would like them to remember your password. If you are not thinking about it, chances are high that you will click Yes and the password is then saved in the web browser.

You may think the "Remember Me" option in web browsers is useful but it actually puts your login credentials at serious risk.

Anyone who has access to your browser can quickly retrieve all of your saved passwords.  This has the possibility of compromising College facilities like Merlin or Blackboard (not to mention your own personal log ins for things like online banking and shopping).

ITS recommends that you clear any passwords that you have saved in the past.  You can do this in Firefox by clicking on the "Tools" menu and selecting "Clear Private Data."  Make sure that "Saved Passwords" is checked before clicking on "Clear Private Data Now."

Printing Program Evaluations
ITS has resolved the problem with printing program evaluations so that gibberish is no longer printed.  The problem arose from the new version of Firefox not being able to handle a courier font in a fixed width Datatel html document.  A change was made to the Datatel style sheet to accommodate Firefox's inadequacy with this font.  Now you can print a program evaluation as usual.

Camps and Conferences Calendar
Many staff have requested the ability to view the calendar that Camps and Conferences uses to schedule their events.  Camps and Conferences uses facility management software called Event Pro.  If you do not see an event on the campus calendar, you can now check the Event Pro calendar on the Faculty/Staff Resource page under "Calendars."
