If you were on the Internet Monday, you probably experienced a major slowdown.  You may have had your Internet session dropped and/or problems reaching parts of the Internet.  You were not alone! 

 

The source of the problem was a misconfigured router, traced to a Czech Internet Service Provider, that affected other edge routers around the world.  We had one of those routers that was affected.  We need to upgrade the software on our edge router to address the bug in that router's operating system.

 

The Internet and all services running on the NCC Internet (Merlin, Web Site, Email, etc.) will be down Friday, February 20th at midnight so that we can upgrade the software on the edge router.  We will also be replacing one of the four fans in that router.  The entire process should take less than an hour.
