As I write this email to you there are 118 calls in RT Tracker for general PC and telephone help, there are another 95 tickets for the Datatel Team, 40 tickets for the Web Team, 67 project tickets and 17 tickets for student residential PC problems. We are trying to respond to these problems as quickly as possible. To add to this back log we are down several ITS staff.
We resolve tickets based on impact on the educational process. ITS will work on problems that affect the entire College first, followed by problems associated with academic instruction, followed by departmental problems, followed by individual problems where a person cannot work at all, and finally individual problems where an individual can do some work. That is the order we will resolve tickets because that is the order of impact on the educational process. It is first come, first served within a category. And, we wish we could give you time lines but we cannot because something with a higher priority may come in just as we planned to complete your request and according to our educational impact hierarchy that would be handled first. But, we will get to all the tickets! Please be patient.
The installation of GroupWise Mobile Server 2.0 will allow some cell phones to synchronize their North Central College email and their GroupWise calendar with their handheld smart phone. We are looking for volunteers to test the system. Below are the certified devices that are known to work with the GroupWise Mobile server. Wireless Printing
If you have a laptop wireless printing is now available. It is called iPrint. To use this feature go to
iPrint You will see a list of printers on the left side. Select the printer that you would like to print to by clicking on it. A pop-up box will then appear with: "? The iPrint client is not installed. Do you want to install it now? Click OK. Instructions will be provided on how to install the iPrint Client. This install will be only required once. After the install, the printer will be a choice when printing from software. If you have problems with the install, please email the Help Desk.
Additional Wireless Access Points
Additional wireless access points have been added. Full wireless access in now available in the Fine Arts Center. Outdoor wireless access points have been added around the Stadium Plaza
Free Software for FT Faculty and Staff
Free software is available for FT faculty and Staff. To get your copy for home use of Microsoft Office Suite 2007, Adobe Creative Suite of Sophos please contact Cathy Frakes at x 5438. PT faculty and staff can get a copy of this software for a nominal fee. You will have to complete some paper work to get your copy.
