And they said that Jan. 22 was supposed to be the most depressing day! 

 

Datatel did not come up this morning until 8:20 am due to the length of time it took to load patches. 

 

There is good news and bad news.  The good news is that the firewall has run 120 days without a hitch.  The bad news is that the firewall went down at 11 pm last night and did not get back into service until 5:30 am.  This is a rare occurrence since this is the 2nd time in less than a week that the firewall crashed.  We believe that we have pinpointed the solution and have replaced broadband boards.

 

Email

Slow email driving you crazy?  Us to!  We added more memory in hopes that it would speed the delivery of email.  It did resolve the issue of the email server crashing but did not solve the slow delivery of email.  Our next attempt to remedy this problem is to build another email server and split the post office into 2 groups: one for faculty and staff and one for students.  This will take most of the term to get up and running as we need to order a new server, set up the 2 post offices, and then split the email users into specific groups----all without losing email.
