Novell Client
On Thursday morning when you log into your PC you will receive the new Novell client.  The install will begin as soon as you log in and will automatically reboot the computer once it is finished.  The install should last no longer than 10 minutes.  If you have problems, please call the ITS Help Desk at x5440.  Novell Clients are workstation software that provide NetWare connectivity to Windows. Once installed on workstations, Novell Clients enable users to enjoy the full range of NetWare services such as single synchronized login, and multiprotocol support.

 ZenWorks Agent
On Friday morning ITS will be updating the ZenWorks agent.  This is the software that, among other things, allows for programs to be delivered via the network.  The install will begin once you log into windows, once it is finished you will be asked to reboot your computer, please select YES to reboot your computer (if you click no you will not have network
delivered programs).  If you have problems, please call the ITS Help Desk at x5440.

GroupWise 7.01
Over the weekend ITS will be updating GroupWise to version 7.01.  Email access will be interrupted this weekend to allow for the update.  All incoming email will be queued up and delivered once the upgrade is complete.  The new GroupWise client will not be pushed out until all email services on the server have been updated.  This means that when you
log in on Monday your GroupWise client should still look and function the same as it does now.  If this is not the case ITS will send out an update regarding this issue.
Excise Tax
An alert from the Association of College and University Telecommunication Administrators (ACUTA) indicates that as of July 31, the IRS will cease collecting the 3% Excise Tax on long distance telephone service.  Taxpayers will be able to request refunds of any taxes paid for nontaxable service (long distance service) that was billed after February 28, 2003, and before August 1, 2006. The request for refund may be made only on the 2006 federal income tax return.  The IRS is currently developing more detailed instructions on how to claim the refund, and the necessary forms and instructions will be included with the 2006 returns.
