Connecting to the NCC Wireless Network

The instructions below are for configuring Windows Vista to connect to NCC's Wireless Network. Be sure to complete both sections.


Section 1:

1.     Download the "DHCP Fix Tool" program and choose to save it to your computer in a location you'll remember. The desktop is a good place.

2.     Run the dhcpfixtool.exe program that you downloaded by right clicking on it and selecting "Run as administrator". Double clicking on it will not work properly.

3.     The user account control window will open. Click "Allow: I trust this program. I know where it's from or I've used it before."

4.     Under "Adapters", click once on "Wireless Network Connection".

5.     Click on "Apply Fix" button.

6.     The following message will appear "Registry fix successful. Reboot and cross your fingers!" Click OK. You do NOT have to reboot.

7.     Close the DHCP Fix Tool window.


Section 2:

1.     Click Start -> Network.


 

2.     Click "Network and Sharing Center" button at the top of the window.


 

3.     Click "Manage wireless networks."


 

4.     Click "Add."


 

5.     Click "Manually create a network profile."


 

6.     Enter the following, then click "Next."

1.     Network name: NCC_Wireless

2.     Security type: 802.1x

3.     Encryption type: WEP

4.     Check "Start this connection automatically."

5.     Check "Connect even if the network is not broadcasting"


 

7.     After "NCC_Wireless" is added, Click "Change connection settings."


 

8.     In the "Connections" tab, Ensure that this box is checked:

1.     "Connect automatically when this network is in range"


 

9.     Click the "Security" tab. Then verify these settings:

1.     Security type: 802.1x

2.     Encryption type: WEP

3.     Network authentication method: Protected EAP (PEAP)

4.     Keep "Cache user information for subsequent connections to this network" checked.

5.     Click "Settings."


 

10.   Verify these settings:

1.     Uncheck "Validate server certificate."

2.     Select Authentication Method: Secured password (EAP-MSCHAP v2).

3.     Uncheck "Enable Fast Reconnect."

4.     Click "Configure."


 

11.   Uncheck "Automatically use my Windows logon name and password (and domain if any)." Click "OK" on all open boxes.


 

12.   Click the bubble that says, " Additional information is required to connect to NCC_Wireless. Click to provide additional information and connect."


 

13.   The "Enter Credentials" box will pop up, enter the following:

1.     User name: Your NCC Username

2.     Password: Your NCC Password

3.     Logon domain:  Leave field blank
