ITS manages the computer hardware on campus.  This page provides additional information on our hardware guidelines, our laptop security policy and computer discounts available to faculty, staff and students.

Hardware Links for Faculty, Staff and Students

All Ethernet ports are activated from the beginning of the year for one week. To keep them active, however, students need to complete our online port-registration page.

North Central College has negotiated through the Midwest Higher Education Commission, MHEC, a hardware purchase program for discounted rates, available to students, faculty and staff.

Wondering what kind of computer is recommended for school? Looking to buy a new laptop to bring with you? This page has the information to aid your quest. 

Each full time faculty or staff member is assigned a PC with the College standard software loaded, access to the campus network, and the Internet.

Can I save my notes from SmartBoard?

The SMART Notebook program allows you to create, edit, save, present and distribute information on the SMART Board in the form of Notebook files. The files will have .nbk extension. You also have the option to save your files as .jpg and HTML files. If you save your files at .nbk, you can only view them within Smart Board.

How do I save my notes as HTML pages to put on my website?

All full time faculty and staff and most adjuncts and part-time staff have a telephone number assigned (department heads must request a phone account on the same form as the computer account set up).

North Central College's Residence Hall Network service (ResNet) provides students with easy access to the high speed NCCNet and Internet. Each residence hall room has a 10/100 Base T-Net port with enough connections to connect each resident in the room.
