Register my Port

All Ethernet ports are activated from the beginning of the year for one week. To keep them active, however, students need to complete our online port-registration page.

To register your port, you must complete the registration form from the computer in your dorm room connected to the port you will be using.

You will need your NCC username and password to access the registration page.

I understand that the registration of the data port does not imply any guarantee on the part of ITS or North Central College that my PC will work over the NCCNet, the College's data network. I also agree to abide by all the terms and conditions of network use as set out in the current version of the North Central College Statement of Acceptable Use of Information Technologies.

What's my Username?

Not sure of your username? The rule of thumb for a username is:

  • first initial + middle initial + last name

For example, John Quincy Adams would probably have the username: jqadams

If you're still not sure of your username, you can look it up by going to Account Information on Merlin's "What's My User ID" page.

Do I need an ethernet cable?

You'll need to bring or purchase a CAT 5 ethernet cable to connect your PC to the data port in your room when you first arrive on campus . Information Technology Services in Carnegie Hall has the cables available for purchase. If you need a longer cable, 25'($10) cables or the 14' ($5) cables can be purchased from ITS. You can also buy them in various lengths from a computer or electronics store.
