How To Set Up Cell Phones For Sending and Receiving NCC Email

There are a variety of cell phone companies and even more types and models of cell phones.  Each model, type of cell phone and each company has their own unique requirements for what  technology they will support  making it impossible for ITS to support all of them.

ITS offers two supported avenues for accessing your email from your cell phone: through the GroupWise client that is installed on College owned computers and via web access which is accessible via https://noctrl.edu/mail

While it is impossible to support all the different types and models of phones on the market, ITS can provide you settings to receive and send email via your cell phone.  There are two settings that you would need to know, one for incoming mail (to access your email at NCC) and one for outgoing mail (to send email from your NCC account).

In general you will need to configure your cell phone with the following settings, the name and description of each setting may vary slight depending on your device.

  • Incoming Mail Server: imap.noctrl.edu
  • Incoming Port: 993
  • Outgoing Mail Server (smtp server): mail.noctrl.edu
  • Outgoing Port:587
  • Configure both of these servers as a secure connection, your device may describe this secure connection as "secure", "TLS", or "SSL"
The above information should be sufficient to allow you to setup your device, if you are having difficulty we can offer very limited advice and suggestions.
